The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) has reported a significant drop in sheep supplies, with over 16,000 fewer sheep slaughtered in the latest week compared to the previous week. This represents a 25% decrease, similar to the decline seen in Great Britain. The decline is particularly evident in spring lambs, with over 50,000 fewer slaughtered compared to the same period last year. Overall, the total number of sheep processed in 2024 is behind the cumulative total of the same period in 2023 by over 147,000 head.
