The Foreign Trade Research and Development Institute of the Lima Chamber of Commerce (Idexcam) has highlighted a sustained growth in exports of several agricultural products including Brazil nuts, oregano, Tahiti lime, figs, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, dates, and pineapples since 2017. These products, despite their potential, have not received the necessary agro-export promotion. The first half of 2021 saw significant growth in exports of these products to various countries. Experts suggest that the Peruvian government should diversify its agricultural export portfolio to include more such products, which could benefit producers and encourage new entrepreneurs.
