Should we sell the good Hungarian apples and buy the weaker imports?

This year's apple harvest is much smaller than last year's, and a significant part of it is also of industrial quality. Unfortunately, it can be expected that the higher quality goods migrate abroad at a good price, and domestic stores - for the sake of low prices - import goods. As we wrote recently, according to the estimates of the National Chamber of Agricultural Economy (NAK) and the Hungarian Vegetable and Fruit Association (FruitVeB), a weaker than average harvest is expected this year, and the amount harvested cannot fully cover the needs of the domestic food and processing industry. In the best case, the harvest will not be 350, or in the worst case scenario, 300,000 tons, which is 150,000 tons less than last year. The amount of food-grade apples may be around 90-100 thousand tons, industrial apples will be 220-240 thousand tons (while domestic apple processing capacities reach 400 thousand tons).
