Significant increase in global almond production

The global production of shelled almonds could reach 1.77 million tons in 2025/2026, according to forecasts from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). This figure would represent a 10% increase over the previous season and would be the highest since 2020/2021. The rise would be mainly due to the expected increase in the United States, as well as in the European Union and Australia. The United States, the world's leading producer by far, could reach 1.36 million tons (up from 1.23 million in 2024/2025) due to the crop benefiting from mild temperatures and rainfall. The EU, the world's second-largest producer, could reach 184,742 tons (up from 170,053 tons in the previous season) due to good yields in Spain, despite the decrease in Italy.
