Turkey: Figs are exported to Dubai and Qatar

Figs, which are produced frequently in the district, especially in the Keben, Sabak, Senir, Nuru, İmambekirli, Evkafçiftliği and Kargicak neighborhoods in the Göksu Valley, are sent to different parts of the country and also find buyers for prices ranging from 20 to 30 TL at the stalls set up by the producers on the roadside. Silifke Chamber of Agriculture President Cafer Doygun noted that 960 tons of fig harvest is expected from the fig trees on 210 decares of land this year. Stating that the fig harvest season lasts for 2 months, Doygun said that the harvested figs are exported to Dubai and Qatar; He stated that they were sent to different provinces of Turkey upon request, especially to Istanbul, Ankara, Eastern and Southeastern provinces.
