A recent Peruvian Ministerial Resolution, No. 314-2020-Produce, has imposed a ban on the extractive activity, processing, transport, commercialization, and storage of the pejerrey fish species, effective from September 20, 2020. This prohibition is subject to certain exceptions for fish already extracted before the ban, backed by sufficient documentation. The Repository of the Peruvian Sea Institute (Imarpe) will oversee the monitoring and tracking of key biological, population, and fishing indicators for the pejerrey hydrobiological resource, and will provide recommendations for fishing management to Produce as necessary. Additionally, the resolution has set the reproductive ban for the woolly resource (Aulacomya atra) from September to November each year.
