Vietnam, the world's leading exporter of cashew nuts, has experienced a surge in imports of raw cashew nuts due to a domestic shortage. It imports 90% of its raw materials from Cambodia and Africa. In October, cashew nut imports to Vietnam reached over 141 thousand tons, valued at over 220 million USD. From January to September, Vietnam's total cashew nut imports amounted to more than 2.3 million tons, valued at over 2.89 billion USD. Cambodia is Vietnam's largest cashew nut supplier, followed by Ivory Coast and Ghana. The average import price of cashew nuts in Vietnam reached 1,300 USD/ton, down 5% from the previous year. In 2023, Vietnam's cashew nut exports earned over 3.6 billion USD. The country aims to export a record 3.8 billion USD worth of cashew nuts in 2024.
