Germany: Slight decline in the sheep population in Baden-Württemberg

According to the State Statistical Office, there was a slight decrease of 4,800 sheep (−2%) compared to the previous year .The reference date stock of ewes was 144,100 animals and thus 2,400 fewer than in 2021. The number of lambs and young sheep, as the second largest group, decreased only slightly (−1%) and was at the same level as the previous year at 51,900 animals.For the production of sheep's milk As in the previous year, around 3,100 milk sheep were kept.
