A case of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) has been reported in a Hungarian livestock farm near the Slovak border, prompting immediate action from the Slovak Veterinary Service. The service is conducting clinical inspections and sampling in districts up to 10 km from the outbreak. The region, housing 18 pig farms, 9 cattle farms, 4 sheep farms, and 6 goat farms, has been placed under restrictions to prevent the spread of the disease. These restrictions include a ban on the movement of ungulates, certain transportations, mass events, and the handling of certain products. Additionally, clinical inspections and other precautions are being implemented across Slovakia within a 5 km zone from the Hungarian border, affecting around 230 municipalities.
