The National Institute of Fisheries Science has initiated the 'Smart Aquaculture Technology Support Task Force' to facilitate the development and operation of smart aquaculture farms and clusters in Korea, addressing climate change challenges. Although currently limited to certain freshwater fish farms, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries has been developing smart aquaculture clusters in five regions since 2019, with some nearing completion. The task force, consisting of experts from various fields, aims to offer tailored technology development and support. Plans include building testbeds for both freshwater and saltwater aquaculture and developing technologies for field distribution, ultimately promoting sustainable marine and fisheries development and enhancing the domestic aquaculture industry.
