In the first quarter of 2025, Kazakhstan's consumption of citrus fruits surged by 16.6%, with the average consumption per quarter being 2.1 kg per person. This increase is attributed to both a rise in import volume and a growing demand within the country. Import data for the first nine months of 2025 reveals a 37.5% increase in tangerine imports compared to the previous year, totaling 51.4 thousand tons. China emerges as the primary supplier, contributing to 53.6% of the imports, followed by Pakistan and Turkey. The price per ton of imported mandarins remained stable from the previous year. The growth in citrus fruit consumption in Kazakhstan is part of a broader trend of rising fruit expenditures, which has led to a 5.8% increase in the average fruit basket cost per quarter.
