In the first quarter of 2024, Peru's fresh ginger export volume has seen a significant decline, dropping to less than half of the previous year's figures, with weekly shipments not exceeding 1,000 tons. This downturn has resulted in a total export volume of 7,119 tons, a 64% decrease from 2023. The number of exporting companies has also reduced from over 110 to less than 70, with a shift in the leading exporters to Blue Pacific Oils S.A.C., Vancard Perú S.A.C., and JCH Agroexportaciones S.A.C. Despite these changes, the United States continues to be the top destination for Peru's ginger, followed by the Netherlands and Canada, with Canada replacing Spain in the top importers list.
