The rapid growth of almond production in Georgia has not been accompanied by strong exports

Since the 2022-2023 almond season has already ended and a new one is beginning, EastFruit analysts note that Georgia exported about 10% of its production last season. Given the rapid growth of local production, this result should serve as a warning. Georgia needs to start exporting almonds in the near future. According to official trade data, in the 2022-2023 season (August-July) Georgia exported 130 tons of almonds (in shell) and 23 tons of kernels. All inshell almonds were sent to Uzbekistan, and the kernels were exported to the United Arab Emirates. Almond export revenues amounted to $280,000, of which the share of kernels was 40%.
