Six UK export businesses have participated in a five-day mission to South Africa to meet with leading importers and distributors of beef and pork. The mission, which included a reception at the Trade Commissioner’s residence in Johannesburg, was coordinated in partnership with the Department for Business and Trade (DBT). The first half of this year has seen a significant increase in UK beef and pork exports to South Africa, with beef exports rising by 50% in volume and 27% in value, and pig meat exports increasing by 34% in volume and 52% in value compared to the same period last year. The Association of Heading British Farmers (AHDB) has identified further potential for growth in red meat exports to South Africa.
