South Korea has emerged as the largest market for Thai fresh mango exports, with a 132.7% increase in imports in 2024 compared to the previous year, reaching 2.931 billion baht. This surge is primarily due to the South Korean government's efforts to expand tropical fruit import quotas and temporarily lower tariffs on agricultural products. Notably, the tarate of mangoes and mangosteens has been reduced from 30% to 0%, and that of durian from 45% to 5%. Thailand and South Korea are currently discussing an economic partnership agreement to further boost Thai fruit exports.
