South Korea has reported an additional case of the lumpy skin disease (LSD) in cattle, bringing the total number of cases this year to 15. The latest case was detected at a cattle farm in Chungju, leading to a 24-hour standstill order for personnel and vehicles associated with the farm and related facilities in six neighboring regions. The government is taking steps to prevent the disease from spreading and has called on provincial governments to stay vigilant and complete cattle vaccination by the end of the month. The country plans to commercialise a genetic diagnostic kit for LSD in 2025, which will help selectively cull infected cattle rather than destroying the entire herd.
