Vietnam's Department of Plant Protection and South Korea's Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency have agreed on the criteria for importing Vietnamese grapefruits into South Korea. Further negotiations are expected by the end of the month. With a market of 50 million consumers, South Korea is an attractive market for Vietnamese grapefruits. Local companies must comply with Korean regulations on growing areas and packaging. Vietnam has over 105,399 hectares of grapefruit cultivation, producing about 900,000 tons annually, and also aims to export grapefruits to Australia this year.
