South Korea overtakes Japan to become Norway's most important seafood export market

In 2019, Norway exported 61,000 tons of seafood to South Korea, valued at nearly NOK 3 billion. This figure is projected to rise to 72,000 tons and NOK 4.7 billion by 2024. South Korean consumers are big fans of Norwegian mackerel, with 58% recognizing the product. In 2023, 70% of the mackerel consumed in South Korea was imported from Norway, with direct exports exceeding 41,000 tons, valued at almost NOK 1 billion.
