Data shows that South Korea's ice cream export value has been continuously growing since 2021, reaching $38.5 million in 2021, $44.7 million in 2022, $55.3 million in 2023, slightly declining to $53.2 million last year, but rebounding this year and breaking the $60 million mark for the first time.
In terms of export markets, the United States is the largest export destination, with exports reaching $24.9 million in the first half of the year, accounting for 38% of the total. The Philippines ($5.6 million) and China ($5.4 million) rank second and third, respectively.
To further expand overseas markets, South Korean food companies are accelerating their layout. Binggrae stated that they are developing region-specific products and obtaining halal certification for their flagship products to speed up entry into Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian markets. Lotte Wellfood's "Snow Lyn" and "Bon Bae" products have been exported to the United States, Mainland China, the Philippines, and Taiwan, and their "Zero Sugar Mini Chocolate Ice Cream" has recently entered seven Costco stores in Mainland China.
