South Korea's seafood exports in 2024 reached US$3.03 billion, an increase of 1.2% from the previous year, with kelp and tuna exports seeing the highest growth at US$997 million and US$585 million respectively. The country's main seafood markets, Japan and the United States, also saw an increase in imports. The South Korean government has supported the growth of seafood exports through loans and export vouchers, and plans to launch a non-tariff barrier platform in May and increase participation in the European market through new trade fairs. The country also aims to increase the export of shellfish, including oysters and abalone, to strengthen the 'K-seafood' brand in Europe.
