Southern Perú launches a campaign to deworm 4,000 camelids in Moquegua

Southern Perú, through its “Livestock Leadership” program, has launched a campaign with the objective of deworming 4,000 South American camelids in the high Andean areas of Arondaya, Asana, Quebrada Honda and Titijones, located in the Moquegua region. The sessions began a week ago and have allowed subcutaneous doses to be applied to a total of 1,800 alpacas, llamas and even dogs (oral dose); in order to control internal and external parasites and guarantee the development of the animal free of mange, tapeworms and ticks. The intervention is carried out in coordination with the Directorate of Agriculture and is essential to avoid pneumonia, diarrhea or the animal becoming weak and exposed to other diseases that end up affecting its growth, fiber and meat production. The direct consequence of this would be the reduction in the income of producers whose main economic activity is the breeding of said species.
