The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Mexico is implementing a carp fish fry rearing program in seven towns across the states of Coahuila, San Luis Potosí, and Zacatecas, benefiting 367 small-scale production units. The goal is to produce 192 tons of fish meat per production cycle, providing protein-rich food and additional income for the vulnerable population. The program, developed by the National Commission of Arid Zones (Conaza), is part of the United Nations General Assembly's declaration of 2022 as the International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture, aiming to increase awareness of the sector and its contribution to food security and sustainable use of natural resources.
