Sowing of corn advances in Argentina, but irregular weather demands market attention

Corn sowing in Argentina has reached 33.80% of the estimated area, surpassing last year's pace. However, irregular water conditions are causing concern among some producers, according to IMEA based on data from the Cereal Exchange of Buenos Aires, 33.80% of the estimated area has been sown as of October 23. This percentage represents a 4.10 percentage point advance over the week and is 4.90 points higher than the same period of the previous crop. The progress is attributed to regular rainfall that benefited various regions of the country at the beginning of the cycle. However, the scenario still requires caution. About 25% of the planted area presents moisture levels considered between regular and dry, which may compromise the initial good development of the crops if there is no recovery of water in the coming weeks.
