Sowing of the 1st crop beans advances unevenly in RS

According to the Economic Bulletin released by Emater/RS-Ascar last Thursday (2), the planting of the first bean crop presented a heterogeneous pace in the different regions of Rio Grande do Sul. In the Vale do Rio Pardo, sowing was completed, while in the South region, planting is in its initial phase. The dry weather conditions and good luminosity favored the advancement of activities in the Planalto Médio. The productive potential of the crops varies according to the technological level and management adopted. According to Emater/RS-Ascar, the majority of the cultivated areas in the State are small and aimed at family consumption and local markets. The strictly commercial crops, mainly located in the Campos de Cima da Serra, are planted later. The projected area for the first bean crop is 26,096 hectares, with an estimated average productivity of 1,779 kilograms per hectare.
