Spain closes the wettest hydrological year since 2020, with 7% more precipitation.

The hydrological year - from October 1 to September 30 - has closed with a rainfall balance of 683.7 liters per square meter, 7 percent above the average (640.1 liters), which gives it a humid character and positions it as the wettest since 2020. In the recent series, according to data provided this Thursday by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), only the 2019-2020 hydrological year exceeded this record, with 710.8 liters per square meter. Since then, precipitation has been more scarce: 653.2 liters in 2021; 514.2 liters in 2022 — one of the driest in recent decades —; 591.7 liters in 2023 and 680.7 liters in 2024.
