The area of agricultural land dedicated to organic production decreased by 46,940 hectares in 2024, as at the end of last year there were 2,944,941 hectares, a figure that, despite having decreased, places Spain as the first country in the community in terms of the extent of this agricultural modality. This has been highlighted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) with "still provisional" data from the report 'Statistics of Organic Production in Spain 2024', which have been supplied by the different autonomous communities. In a statement, it has specified that, "although it is 46,940 hectares less, its weight on the total useful agricultural area cultivated in Spain has increased by 2.33 points, to 12.31 %, due to the greater decrease of the latter". The reduction of organic land has been mainly located in Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, and the Valencian Community.
