Spain extends vaccination against dermatosis to 6,849 cattle farms

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) reported this Friday that the Committee of the Veterinary Health Alert Network (RASVE) has expanded the vaccination zone I against contagious nodular dermatosis (DNC), which now includes a total of 6,849 cattle farms. The farms that have been incorporated into this area—in which there are no DNC outbreaks—are located in regions of Aragon, Navarre, and the Basque Country that are close to the French border. According to the latest report published by MAPA on the epidemiological situation of DNC, this new vaccination zone, which has already been communicated to the European Commission, "will allow creating a protective barrier for the rest of the national cattle herd against possible new advances of the disease in French territory."
