The Scientific Committee for advice related to the outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Spain concluded its preliminary report with 9 recommendations to prevent the spread of the disease: Continue the molecular characterization of the virus responsible for the outbreak. Conduct experimental tests on virulence. Containment of the outbreak. Detection, removal, and destruction of carcasses. Population control of wild boars. Implement a white zone (a zone free of wild boars). Strategies for hunting control. Continue with communication activities for the swine sector and the hunting sector. Increase and reinforce biosecurity in pig farms.
