Spain investigates several suspected outbreaks of epizootic haemorrhagic disease outside Andalusia

The Central Veterinary Laboratory (LCV) of Algete confirmed, on July 3, the first case of epizootic haemorrhagic disease (EHE) in 2023 in three deer in the Cazalla de la Sierra region (Sierra Norte), province of Seville. A few days later, the disease was confirmed in a cattle farm in the region of Aracena (Sierra Oriental), in the province of Huelva. Likewise, on July 7, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) confirmed two new outbreaks of epizootic haemorrhagic disease in domestic animals, in the municipalities of Adamuz and Cardeña, in the province of Córdoba. Additionally, MAPA has reported that the Official Veterinary Services (SVO) have received notification of various clinical suspicions in bovine farms in the regions of the province of Cádiz, in the north of the provinces of Huelva, Seville and Córdoba, as well as in the south of the provinces of Badajoz and Ciudad Real, which are currently under investigation.
