Spain is once again free of sheeppox after its reappearance a year ago in Granada

Starting this Tuesday, Spain once again achieved the status of a country free of sheep and goat pox after a year in which this livestock sector saw this disease reappear, with a first outbreak on September 19, 2022 in Benamaurel (Granada), after half a century without cases. This new status reopens the doors to international trade for around twenty countries that closed their purchases, which is why the sector, represented through the interprofessional organization for sheep and goat meat (Interovic), values the work carried out to control the disease.
