Spain: Producer prices for sheep milk increased by 32% and goat milk by 17% compared to last year

In Spain we have a continuous upward trend in producer prices for sheep's and goat's milk compared to last year. This is due, according to the Spanish ministry, to the reduction in the number of farms. So we see supply and demand working in the Iberian country, which is not the case in Greece, where with reduced production we see prices fall. According to the data from the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA), in October 2023, the trends observed for a long time in the market of sheep and goat milk continued, with a steep increase in prices compared to last year. In particular, the price of sheep's milk increased in October 2023 compared to last year. In this month, according to MAPA, the average price of sheep's milk was 1.80 euros/liter, 35.25% more than in the same month in 2022. Sheep's milk production decreased by 2.66% (to 29,654 million liters) and the number of breeders decreased by 5.32% (to 2,457 producers, against 2,596 a year ago). ...
