From January to October 2024, Spain's imports of fresh fruits and vegetables surged by 6.5% in volume and 12% in value compared to the previous year, totaling 3.6 million tons and € 4,087 million. This growth was led by a 17% increase in the import of vegetables, which reached 1.7 million tons and € 1,294 million. Despite a slight decrease in volume, fruit imports rose in value by 10%, amounting to €2,792 million. Bananas and avocados were the most imported fruits, seeing positive growth both in quantity and value. However, there was a decline in the import of oranges, with a decrease in both volume and value.
