Spanish dehydrated alfalfa exports saw a significant increase in the 2021/22 season, reaching record highs with a 37% increase in value and 44% increase in volume compared to the previous campaign. The UAE, Saudi Arabia, and China were the primary recipients of these exports, accounting for 91% of the total. The high demand is attributed to the product's quality and adaptability to various environmental conditions. However, the sector faces challenges such as rising processing costs and market uncertainty. The Spanish Association of Manufacturers of Dehydrated Alfalfa (AEFA) is actively promoting Spanish dehydrated fodder in international markets through collaborations and participation in seminars and fairs, and has recently launched a promotion campaign in China for dehydrated oats.
