Spanish fresh fruit and vegetable exports experienced a slight decline of 3% from January to May compared to the previous year, with a more significant decrease of 16% in May compared to the same month in the previous years. Despite this, the export value remained stable at 1.3 billion euros in May. However, total Spanish exports have seen a sharp decline due to the coronavirus crisis, with a drop of 41% and 35% in April and May respectively. The Netherlands has seen the most significant drop in exports, followed by Italy, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, and Denmark. There was a mixed performance in the export of specific fruits and vegetables, with a decrease in oranges, mandarins, and tomatoes, but an increase in courgettes.
