Scientists from the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO) aboard the vessel Vizconde de Eza, from the fleet of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA), will start next Saturday the research campaign to evaluate the black cod population in the Grand Bank of Newfoundland (Canada).
The objective of this new annual campaign is to estimate the indices of abundance and biomass, determine the population structure and obtain biological information of the black cod and other species, the Ministry detailed in a statement.
Additionally, information on the oceanographic conditions of the area will be collected.
The campaign takes place in the Flemish Pass area, Division 3L, northeast of the "large" banks of Newfoundland, where the greatest fishing effort is concentrated and the highest yields in the black cod fishery are obtained, it has been specified.
With this research, the season of campaigns developed aboard the Vizconde de Eza in the area managed by ... is closed.
