REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Palm Oil Farmers' Union (SPKS) is urging the Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP) to immediately allocate funds to help smallholder palm oil farmers affected by floods in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. SPKS Chairman Sabarudin conveyed that the scale of the current disaster's impact is enormous, with at least 1 million smallholder palm oil farmers losing access to their plantations and experiencing income disruptions. "When one million farmers are affected, this is not just a regular disaster. This is a situation that requires a quick, targeted, and farmer-friendly response," said Sabarudin when contacted in Jakarta on December 12, 2025. Sabarudin emphasized that the palm oil funds managed by BPDP come from export levies collected from contributions by farmers and domestic industry players, amounting to around Rp30–50 trillion per year.
