Sri Lanka's Agriculture Ministry is set to launch a program to manage all aspects of agricultural seed production, distribution, and regulation through the School of Agriculture Government Farm in Kundasale. Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage has urged officials to provide accurate information on the country's seed demand and local production. The ministry is planning to limit or ban the importation of seeds for several locally grown crops, including potato, onion, chillie, undu, maize, and peanuts, with potential complete bans by 2024 for some crops.
