The Sri Lankan government's ban on turmeric and ginger imports has led to a significant increase in prices, with a kilo of raw root selling for over Rs.1000 (EUR 3.60). However, following successful local harvests, prices have dropped to between Rs.110 and Rs.300 per kilo. This decrease is due to many growers cultivating these crops during the last growing season, given the scarcity of fertilizers for other crops. While consumers are benefiting from the low prices, growers are experiencing financial losses due to the low market rates.
