As climate change, deteriorating cultivation environments, and the spread of pests and diseases push highland agriculture into crisis, the supply of national staple vegetables like cabbage and radish is becoming unstable. This calls for strong and effective pest control, soil management, and the development of new varieties. At a field discussion forum on highland vegetable production sites held by the Korea Rural Economic Institute on the 27th of last month at the Anbandeogi Village Community Center in Gangneung, Gangwon Province, researchers and farmers strongly raised the need for practical measures to respond to the worsening highland agricultural environment.
