Sugarcane crushing in central-south Brazil is expected to reach 557.5 million tonnes in the 2022/23 harvest, a slight reduction in projections by consultancy StoneX. The surplus of global sugar is predicted to be 3.3 million tons, a decrease from the previous forecast of 4.1 million tons, due to reductions in estimates from the United States and Cuba. The large volume of rains in Brazil has slightly reduced the average Total Recoverable Sugar of cane. Sugar production in Brazil was estimated at 33.3 million tons, with ethanol production forecasted at 25.3 billion liters, showing a 5.1% increase compared to the 2021/22 harvest.
