Indonesia imports chili peppers and garlic from Singapore, here's the value

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - There is something surprising about the latest BPS data. Singapore, a country the size of DKI Jakarta, turns out to be one of the import sources for several basic and important food ingredients for Indonesia. In fact, Singapore itself still relies on imports for its food supplies, up to 90%. BPS noted that Indonesia imported garlic, wheat and chilies from Singapore. Even salt, Indonesia has to import from Singapore. According to BPS, Singapore is the second country that contributed the largest deficit to Indonesia's trade balance for four consecutive years, or to be precise in the period May 2020 to April 2024. In that period Indonesia had a deficit of US$18.91 billion with Singapore.
