Italy: Strawberries, price trends in the 2024 campaign

For strawberries, the last months of the autumn-winter season of the 2023 production campaign were characterized by high prices, with prices above the average: the values remained close to 10 euros per kilo for a long time, sometimes even reaching beyond that ceiling, of measure. This is due both to the new productions from Southern Italy and to the latest harvests from Trentino Alto Adige. Despite the physiological price drop at the beginning of 2024, prices stabilized at the end of February at levels on average higher than last year, supported by a supply without excesses. The production of this period, mainly coming from Basilicata and Campania, experienced a significant decline only at the beginning of May, and then recovered immediately despite the month not being the best from a meteorological point of view.
