The Bank of Mozambique reports a 36% increase in sugar exports in the first half of this year, generating US$14.7 million, compared to the same period in 2023. This positive performance is due to a recovery in production following adverse climate impacts in 2023. With the anticipated growth in sugar production from 1.6 to 1.9 million tons for the 2024-25 agricultural campaign, the sector aims to overcome recent challenges such as natural disasters that have affected both family and industrial production.
