Sugar production in Russia in January-February increased by 2.6 times

In the first two months of 2023, Russia experienced a significant increase in the production of white beet sugar, with a 2.6-fold rise compared to the same period in 2022, reaching 439.8 thousand tons. February alone saw a production of 69.5 thousand tons, which is nearly five times the February 2022 figure, although it represented 81.2% of the sugar production in January 2023.

Additionally, the production of chocolate and confectionery products in February 2023 slightly decreased by 0.7% compared to the same month in 2022, but saw a 3.4% increase from January 2023. Unrefined sunflower oil production in February 2023 experienced a slight decrease of 1.2% and 4.7% compared to February 2022 and January 2023, respectively. On the other hand, refined sunflower oil production in February 2023 saw an increase of 1.3% and 14.6% compared to February 2022 and January 2023, respectively. Overall, the period from January-February 2023 witnessed an increase in the production of sugar and sunflower oil compared to the same period in 2022.
