Brazil's record exports of sugar in December 2023 are just the beginning of the positive scenario that foreign trade in the sweetener should have in 2024

The record monthly export of almost 4 million tons of sugar and molasses by Brazil in the month of December (20 working days), according to data from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex), with revenue of more than US$ 2.038 billion, should be just the beginning of a positive scenario that is to come in shipments of the sweetener in the year 2024 that began. "It's not common for this to happen. Normally, we see the peak in exports in the year when the harvest in the Center-South is stronger, like in the months of August, September and October, but we had a very good December", highlighted to Notícias Agrícolas Marcelo Di Bonifacio Filho, market intelligence analyst at the consultancy StoneX, during an interview this morning during the Bom Dia Agronegócio program. Throughout the month of November, Brazil exported 3.684 million tons of sugar.
