From May to August, formal exports from Puno to Bolivia experienced a dramatic increase of 2,400%, particularly in perishable products, according to the National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat). This surge is attributed to the Customs Administration of Puno's efforts to facilitate trade procedures during the state of emergency, encouraging merchants to legalize their exports. The number of companies engaging in formal exports rose from one in April to 44 in August. Over 8,200 tons of goods, including lemon, avocado, grape, and other perishables, were exported from Puno, Moquegua, Arequipa, and Tacna. Sunat also highlighted the benefits, such as IGV refunds, that formal exporting companies can enjoy.
