Suncheon City (Mayor Noh Kwan-gyu) has announced that it is making a total effort towards preemptive wildfire prevention, including expanding the shredding of agricultural byproducts, strengthening drone surveillance, and intensifying focused inspections on illegal incineration, due to the increased risk of wildfires from dry weather and the rise in the incineration of agricultural byproducts. The city is expanding on-site shredding support using shredders to prevent wildfires caused by the incineration of agricultural byproducts. In particular, it is continuously conducting prior notice and requests for cooperation to prohibit incineration and improve illegal incineration practices among farmers in areas adjacent to forests, with the aim of fundamentally reducing the main causes of wildfires. Additionally, wildfire surveillance is being strengthened in areas such as the waterside zones around dams, which are difficult to access.
