Sunflower purchase prices in Ukraine are increasing due to lower harvest forecasts and higher meal and oil prices. The total crop is expected to be lower than USDA forecasts, leading to increased demand from processors who have raised prices. Despite this, farmers are holding back sales in anticipation of further price increases. Demand prices for sunflower oil and meal have also increased, supporting the prices of sunflower. Export demand prices have also increased, indicating overvaluation of Ukrainian sunflower. In other news, palm oil futures rose 5.2% in Malaysia, while soybean oil futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange fell 4% due to profit-taking by traders.
