The Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade in Egypt has received 450,000 tons out of one million tons of raw sugar from Brazil, worth $275 million. The remaining 550,000 tons is expected to be received in September and October. The sugar will be refined to produce white sugar and molasses for animal feed. The government supplies around 65-70 thousand tons of white sugar to companies each month, which is offered through over 40,000 outlets. The subsidized sugar price is 12.6 pounds on the card, with a maximum of two kilograms per person.
