The Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade in Egypt has confirmed the reception of approximately 1.91 million tons of beets, leading to the production of 262 thousand tons of white sugar, along with molasses and beet pulp for the fodder industry. The Delta Sugar Company, located in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, is playing a key role in this production and is set to achieve targets of 320 thousand tons of loose sugar, 130,000 tons of molasses, and 140,000 tons of beet pulp this season. The company is also prioritizing COVID-19 safety measures to ensure smooth operations and is in the process of increasing its beet processing capacity from 14,000 to 21,000 tons per day. This initiative aims to boost local sugar production and molasses production, thereby reducing imports and supporting food security, in accordance with the political leadership's directives to develop government factories for strategic commodities and save hard currency.
